Rohrmoos Balloon Meeting |
Flight 3 |
The third flight was the one where I was passenger. It was a very nice flight and we were quite lucky because at first it didn't look like the wind was good at heights, but then when we were about half an hour airborne, we received the good news that we could go up to 10,000 feet and the wind was good there...
Naturally we went for it and the wind drove us out of the valley. We went over the Dachstein (which gave us quite some nice views as you can see in the pictures) and came into a valley at the other side of the Dachstein.
Then we went through a small "V-passage" in between two mountains to go to the next valley, and here we encountered some turbulence. In any case, after going through the "V-passage" we arrived in the next valley and found a nice spot to land with.
After about an hour the crew had found us (which was actually quite fast considering that we were on the other side of the mountain and had only been able to contact the crew when landed).
Then began the hard part. We couldn't access the field we had landed on with the 4WD and had to take everything of the field, via a small steep part in snow to get it into the 4WD. Anyhow, we stripped the basket of all gas bottles and after an hour of hard work, everything was of the field...
This truely was a very beatifull flight and I really enjoyed it very much. Next year, I'm hoping to have as beautiful a flight as the one this year...
Unfortunately the wheather became bad after this flight, and stayed bad, so then we went to some parties in the local dancing at night, and during the day we went ski-ing...
