Today we left our B&B in Carslisle (Fern Lee Guest House, 9, St. Aidans Road, Carlisle, +44 1228 511930) which was a very nice place to stay, and not to expensive, and went on to Scotland.
We had our minds set on a tour via the Scottish Borders towards Edingburgh, and suddenly saw a sign giving directions to Hadrian's Wall. As we had learned about this famous construction of Roman emperor Hadrian in highschool, we were very keen on visiting it, so we went ahead to Hadrian's Wal. After a lot of driving around, we finally arrived at Hadrian's Wall.
At first sight, it seemed rather disappointing, since it was a rather small wall. Unfortunately we arrived at 9 am, and the museum did not open until 10 am, so we couldn't wait for the museum to open. Although at first sight the wall itself did not meet our expectations, it was still an interesting visit. Even if there's not much left of the famous wall, we had enough imagination to get a picture of how the wall must have looked like in earlier times. Anyhow, it was worth the detour for the faboulous views we got to see on the way to the wall alone, so we left quite satisfied on to our next destination ... Jedburgh.
